Midlands-based manufacturer LFE Engineering has invested £450,000 into a new Bystronic 6kw fibre laser, helping the business save the environment and increase capacity.

Established in 1999, LFE Engineering is a fabrication and sheet metal company based in Coventry, West Midlands. They design, supply and install high quality steel fabricated solutions worldwide and have built a trusted reputation in the manufacturing industry for reliability, resourcefulness and cost-effectiveness.

With technology developing at lightning speed and more manufacturers investing in the latest equipment every day, LFE decided to take the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic into both hands and invest in a new fibre laser machine to ensure they are always up to date with the latest technology.

Sean Conway, Managing Director at LFE Engineering said:

“The pandemic has given us the time to think about the arrangement of our factory and what processes we would like going forward. That’s why we decided to invest at this time to future proof the business and ensure we are always ahead of the game.”

With 6 kilowatts of laser power, the firm will be able to cut stainless steel with high precision up to 30 millimetres in thickness. On top of this, they will also be saving energy costs as well as the environment by “eliminating the need for laser gas and reducing consumption power”.

With this new high power laser LFE will be able to process up to two tonne of material out of hours, significantly increasing their capacity from the previous machine that could only be unmanned for two hours.
